<p>Mashable.com reports that a deal has been closed between Google and <a href="http://www.groupon.com">Groupon</a> all according to a &#8220;reliable source&#8221; in relation with Vatornews.</p>
<p><span id="more-2302"></span>The price tag is told to be 2,5 billion dollars and is the story is the latest of rumours that have been circulated about the realization of Groupon all since Yahoo failed with the proposal of 2,3 billion for the popular local deal site earlier this year.</p>
<p>Google&#8217;s interest in Groupon is not that surprising since it would infer a significant strength to the local business directory in combination with <a href="https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?hl=en&amp;service=lbc&amp;continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Flocal%2Fadd%2FbusinessCenter%3Fhl%3Dsv">Google Places</a>.</p>
<p>Either Google or Groupon has confirmed the information yet.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div id="_mcePaste">In March this year Facebook passed Google in terms of visitors. The numbers indicates that social networks are in advancement at the expense of the search engines.<span id="more-1973"></span></div>
<p>Hitwise presented the numbers for 2010’s first quarter and we have already seen obvious trends in the UK where social networks attract additional visitors than the search engines. At the moment Facebook dominates the stats for social networks  with 55 % of all visits at social sites that also can count in 55 % more traffic than the total amount of traffic to the search engines. This is the first time ever something similar has been surveyed and as you can see in the diagram below, it is a process that just started.</p>

The search function is growing bigger within the social networks but above all the social networks pose a threat to the search engines in terms of advertising.</div>

<div>Google&#8217;s strength is to match search results to ad-offers and to run consumers as close to a purchase as possible. Facebook, on the other hand, focuses on ads that generate demand and strengthen the relations to the brand.</div>

Efter den misslyckade lanseringen av Google Wave är det nu dags för Google Buzz &#8211; ett verktyg som är inbäddat i Gmail och som tillåter användare att dela information och innehåll med varandra genom datorn eller mobilen. Med hjälp av statusuppdateringar och länkar, inte helt olikt Twitters och Facebooks nyckelmoment är det tanken att användare ska interagera med varandra, vänner som totala främlingar. Buzz går att synkronisera med Twitter, men till Facebook har man givit kalla handen. Tjänsten är såklart också helt synkad med Googles övriga tjänster, vilket möjliggör lokalisering och annat. Google Buzz är en alldeles nylanserad tjänst i sin första version, vilket innebär att vi säkerligen kommer att få se en hel del uppdateringar och förändringar inom kort.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>USA:s (och därmed ett av hela världens) mest uppmärksammade sportevenemang Super Bowl gick av stapeln natten till idag. Förutom att matchen ses av miljoner människor världen över är det även reklamvärldens högtid för att avnjuta de mest påkostade reklamfilmerna i pausen. Redan innan matchen hade det ryktats om att Google skulle visa upp en reklamfilm i den tredje pausen (<a href="http://twitter.com/ericschmidt/status/8738388895" target="_blank">tack vare Twitter-indikationer från VD:n Eric Schmidt</a>), något som också visade sig stämma. Google valde att använda filmen Parisian Love som redan varit en viral succé under en tid &#8211; föga förvånande.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>När populariteten för olika sociala medier ofta kommer och går i vågor är det en kanal som inte bara fortsätter att växa, utan även ständigt utvecklas framåt och bidrar till att förändra vårt sätt att använda internet &#8211; YouTube startar det nya årtiondet med att introducera en ny tjänst där användare får möjligheten att hyra filmer, likt iTunes Music Store. Från att ha varit en tjänst för lågupplösta, hemsnickrade videor och illegalt uppladdade filmer så har YouTube gång på gång visat hur otroligt stor roll man idag spelar i sociala medier. YouTube har onekligen varit en av de absolut viktigaste medierna hittills under 2000-talet och det ska bli intressant att se hur man fortsätter att finslipa den nya hyrtjänsten efter att ha introducerat HD-upplösning och fullskärmsläge till sitt grundutbud. Än så länge så är utbudet ytterst begränsat med ett fåtal independent-filmer till uthyrning, men det har tidigare rapporterats att YouTube har varit i samtal med flera av de större filmbolagen. Detta börs ses som ett stort steg i riktningen för YouTube att börja dra in pengar för ägaren Google.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Den 23 september i år <a href="http://en-us.nielsen.com/main/news/news_releases/2009/september/nielsen_reports_17" target="_blank">rapporterade Nielsen</a> att tiden som vi spenderar i sociala nätverk och bloggar stod för 17% av all spenderad tid på Internet under augusti månad. Det innebär nästan tre gånger så mycket som för ett år sedan. Det skapas med andra ord mer information i realtid än någonsin tidigare &#8211; information som går många obemärkt förbi.</p>
<p>I snabb takt lanseras dock nu många nya tjänster som fokuserar just på vårt liv i &#8220;nuet&#8221;. Google är en sådan aktör som efter Google Wave  nu följer upp med<a href="http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/introducing-google-social-search-i.html" target="_blank">&#8220;Google Social Search&#8221;</a> &#8211; en sökmotor som går igenom ditt sociala nätverk av vänner för att på så sätt hitta relevant information och svar på dina frågor i ditt sociala nätverk. Idén hänger på att man har ett ordentligt nätverk, men kan nog tänkas bli oerhört användbart om det lever upp till förväntningarna.</p>
